Maine Kelly Krebstar Here is a more detailed description of tracks and performers. 1. We open with the central song in Nick's oeuvre: The Mercy Seat. This is an industrial version coming from Stromkern's CD "Flicker Like A Candle", just released on the German KODEX/SUSHIA LIGHT label (EFA CD 12 977). Stromkern is James Ned Kirby, also known as "Professor Ned", and he did this version all by himself. A remix of this song by Attrition can also be found on the above CD. 2. ... and right on with the next song from Tender Prey, a solo version by Johan F"alt from Sweden, who did 3 songs on the first tribute, and with 5 songs on this one, Johan can almost release a cover versions album on his own! He should. 3. Tender Prey should be closed by New Morning, so here is the solo version by Blake Cotton from Idahofalls in the USA. 4. On with The Good Son... a great version by Peter Fearnley and his family (Charlotte, Matt and Helena on backing vocals), recorded on his ageing four track portastudio at home in Sheffield, UK. 5. Sorrow's Child by Johan, recorded in September 1995, with kind permission to use it for this tribute. 6. The Weeping Song by Ton & Conor from Amsterdam. Let's call it `interesting' as Bram van Splunteren qualified The Good Son in 1990. :-) Ton: Father, ashtrays, cups, video & audio cassettes Con: Son, guitar, coffee tin 7. Also present on the first tribute, Leo Meijer (bass, voice over) and Jans (guitar, voccals) from Utrecht, the Netherlands, close The Good Son part with their version of Lucy. 8. From Loganholme, QLD, Australia, we have Rene Lindenburg (acoustic, electric & bass guitars), David Woodhouse (basic strums during chorus & dodgy vocals) doing the first version of Brother, My Cup Is Empty on this tribute. 9. Blue Bird - this precious little B-side from 1992 is covered by the Finnish band Anglia: Annika Kaipola (drums), Pekka Ollikainen (bass) Johanna Seppala (keyboards), Kari Suihkonen (vocals, guitar). 10. The Loom Of The Land by Johan, recorded in October 1995. 11. Jack The Ripper closes Henry's Dream. This song, `the soft version' from two versions, was recorded at "Hole In The Wall", St. John's, NF, Canada, by Members of... Nimbus: Craig Power (vocals) and Neddal Ayad (guitar & backing vocals). 12. Shivers - back in time with the second contribution by Blake. More Shivers on their way later... 13. The instrumental I Let Love In was a late entry for the first tribute, from the Australians Greg O'Beirne and Matt Baker, who recorded their parts at different times and places. 14. Henry Lee - the first of two murder ballads, by Peter and Charlotte, who does a great job on the PJ Harvey part. 15. The Ballad of Robert Moore and Betty Coltrane - the too many words not enough beer version. Johan F"alt - vocals and guitar, some other guy - another guitar, some drunk guy - suitcase. Kink Ink II wasn't available yet... but hey, this one rocks! 16. The story... July 26th, 1997. Vancouver, B.C. CANADA. A hot, humid summer night. Three hombres come together with their weapons of choice. It could be a scene from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Jim Bagg on guitar, Bill "Slapsy" Muck on Bass and vocals and Jon.E. Katt on the drums. From the ashes of Black Betty, Brompton Oratory is born. Fuelled by Martinis, Coronas and cigarettes the so called studio becomes a writhing pit of energy, born of memories of past Nick Cave gigs. Brompton Oratory is belted out with fury. Then up with the house lights. Calmness, sobriety. Martinis replaced by water and the mixing begins. Finally an aural masterpiece is achieved. The job completed successfully, the hombres disappear into the night. 17. Jen Strickland & Lena Schniewind from Cambridge, MA, USA do another great version of Brother, My Cup Is Empty. 18. Another song by Rene & David, `only included to humour me', so I hope they don't mind that I included this version of Shivers anyway.... 19. She's Hit. The only Birthday Party song on this tribute comes from who else but: Johan F"alt - vocals & dance, some other guy - synthesizers, some drunk guy - modified bass. 20. And here's another one man version of The Mercy Seat, by Bart Repcik from California. This version could also be called `industrial' I guess. Enjoy! 21. A very late entry all the way from Santiago, Chile! Sad Waters with Spanish lyrics set to new music by goodsonner Cristobal Parot (guitars), and the other Negativo 55 members Joselo (drums), Alejandro (bass), and Rocco on vocals with the support of Juan. 22. Maine Kelly is one of the one act plays from King Ink. This version is performed by the band Krebstar from Berkeley, California.
