Nick Cave and Ed Kuepper
(The Saints/The Laughing Clowns/The Aints/solo)
- Sharing the bill:
- The Boys Next Door have supported The Laughing Clowns
on 09/02/80.
The Birthday Party and The Laughing Clowns were on the same bill a
few times: 28/11/80 Sydney, 05/08/82 London,
22/11/82 Edinburgh, 23/11/82 Glasgow.
- On the late 1997 Australian Bad Seeds tour,
Ed Kuepper opened for them on a few shows.
- Nick Cave has often mentioned The Saints as a major influence. When he presented
Rage in 1994, he played Eternally Yours
by The Laughing Clowns and I'm Stranded and
Know Your Product by The Saints. I'm Stranded was also
picked by Nick as one out of 5 favorite songs in December 1994 on Australian Radio.
When Mick Harvey presented
Rage in 1992, he played
Ghost Ships and
Know Your Product by The Saints.
Nick selected The Saints' This Perfect Day among
his favorite tracks of the 80s in 1989.
Nick named the song The Story of Love from
The Saints 1st "Stranded" LP as one of his top ten favourite songs a
few years back in a British music paper.
- Jeffrey Wegener, drummer of The Saints and The Laughing Clowns
played drums with The Birthday Party during the
Dutch January 1983 shows.
- During the Kicking Against The Pricks sessions, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds recorded a
Laughing Clowns song, probably Eternally Yours, as well as
No, Your Product (not the same song as mentioned above) by
The Saints.
- Conversely, Ed Kuepper has played
The Ship Song
live at the 1990(?) APRA Awards, and on the 1995 album Ed Kuepper's Exotic Mail Order Moods
he does a great cover of Do You
Love me?. This is also released on Ed's 1999 covers album "Reflections Of Ol'
Goldeneye", Hot Records, HOT 1072.
