Compulsories

The KiteFlight compulsory library contains all the official dual line compulsories of the AKA, STACK and AJSKA stunt kite organisations. You will probably want to download this library of compulsories if you have downloaded the demo version of KiteFlight. The KiteFlight compulsory library is included with the retail version of KiteFlight, but this on-line version is often newer.

More information about which compulsories are included in version 2.2 of the library can be found in Issue 6 of the KiteFlight Newsletter.

Typical download speeds are 100 Kbytes/minute (14.4 kbaud modem) or 200 Kbytes/minute (28.8 kbaud modem). Heavy network traffic may, however, reduce these rates by a factor of 2 or more.
Please check the exact size of any downloaded files against the expected file size. The test file 100bytes.pat can be downloaded for test purposes. If it is loaded correctly (as a binary file) it's size will be exactly 100 bytes. If it is loaded as an ASCII file, it will be about 114 bytes long instead (due to CR/LF conversion).

Next, you need to expand the compressed file using PKZip, WinZip or a similar program. The zip archive contains

a readme file
a program named install.exe which extracts the actual compulsory routines from
a file in a proprietary compressed format named install.dat.

You will be prompted by install.exe for a directory. This should generally be a directory named /kite20 or whatever/kite20 (the compulsories will actually be installed in a subdirectory: whatever/kite20/kf/compulsr).
